Frequently Asked Questions

Product: About the Mattress

What is the mattress made of?

We only use U.S., high-quality foams that are CertiPUR-US certified to ensure that they are safe, don’t contain harmful chemicals, and have a low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) rating.

The 2920 Mattress uses an exclusive combination of foams to provide laboratory-tested support, durability, and comfort. Our base and support-layer foams are structured to provide good edge support to avoid the feeling of falling off the edge that many other foam beds give. The top-layers are unique in that they do an exceptional job of dissipating heat and also provide firm-yet-soft support without making you feel like you are ‘trapped’ inside the bed.

To meet fire safety standards, the 2920 mattress is wrapped in a fire-protection sock, avoiding the use of dangerous chemicals.

The bed is then encased in our elegantly designed removable cover, which utilizes adaptive temperature control technology (similar to that used in sports apparel) to help maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature.

What Certifications and Safety Features does the mattress have?

We’ve used high quality foams in our mattress that are safe and non-toxic. The products are CertiPUR-US certified to ensure that they don’t contain harmful chemicals and exceed low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) ratings for indoor use.

We’ve also eliminated a lot of potentially harmful chemicals by avoiding the use of PBDE flame retardants and instead use a fabric “sock” that encases the foam and meets fire safety standards without needing to soak the mattress in additional chemicals.

CertiPUR-US certified, no ozone depleters, no PBDE flame retardants, no mercury, no lead, no heavy metals, no formaldehyde, no phthalates, low VOC’s, and 100% recyclable.

How does the mattress feel?

Not too soft, and not too hard. The mattress was tested by an independent lab to ensure it hit the target firmness that appeals to the vast majority of sleepers. We’re confident the 2920 mattress will meet your needs and help you wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested.

Typical comments and observations we’ve heard are:

  • It doesn’t feel too soft like other beds we’ve tried
  • I like that the edge of the bed doesn’t collapse when I sit on it
  • It feels soft but I don’t sink all the way in – love the support it gives

Of course, any new mattress will require some time for you to get used to it. For most people it is less than a couple of days, but may take as long as a few weeks.

Can I try the mattress before buying it?

Yes! To lower costs, 2920 Sleep doesn’t have traditional showrooms and additional overheads which increase the product cost. To give you peace-of-mind, we let you try the mattress in your home with a no-risk 100 Night Trial.

In the future we hope to have the mattress available at select retailers. Sign up for our mailing list to receive updates on when you can find our products in your area.

Is the mattress recyclable?

Yes…and we’re glad you asked! Our mattress is made with all recyclable materials so no need for it (many years from now) to ever end up in a landfill.

How do I dispose of my old mattress?

Setting Up Your Bed

What setup or foundation do you recommend for the mattress?

The mattress can be set up on any firm, flat foundation provided the mattress is properly supported. This includes a box spring or foundation, adjustable base, metal frame with foundation, firm platform base, the floor, “bunkie boards”, or a slatted base with unyielding slats thick enough to support the mattress.

Your existing foundation or box spring will work as long as it’s not more than a couple of years old – you probably need a new one if you notice broken slats or the box spring is sagging. Or, you can keep your existing box springs by placing a “bunkie board” on top. A bunkie board is a solid plywood or particle board that supports the mattress.

If you do need a new foundation, a good choice is a platform bed base which removes the need for a box spring and also gives you extra storage space under the bed.

Why does the mattress need a foundation?

A proper foundation will help your investment last longer. The 2920 bed is warrantied for 10 years if it has been placed on adequate support, and we expect it to last even longer if cared for properly. A foundation that doesn’t allow the bed to sag will help it last, as will rotating the mattress periodically.

Is there a break-in period?

You can start using your bed immediately. Within a couple of hours of opening it, the bed will be at – or close to – full size. As the bed inflates and breathes, if you notice a temporary odor, just air the room out. Otherwise you’re good-to-go! Just give yourself a few days to get used to your new bed.

Do you sell foundations or bases?

Not yet…but check back soon! We’re always working on high quality sleep solutions to add to our product lineup. In the meantime, we’re happy to recommend some of our favorites – just ask us!

Taking Care of Your Mattress

How do I take care of my bed?

Here are a few simple rules to follow.

First, make sure to rotate the bed according to schedule to ensure even wear over its’ lifetime. During the first 6 months, you should rotate it every month. After that, every 6 months. Make sure to take advantage of our underside handles to help rotate the bed. And if you’ve given us your email address, we’ll help remind you when to do it.

Second, always have a fitted sheet on the mattress to keep it clean. If the mattress cover does get dirty, just spot-clean with a mild detergent. Try to avoid washing the whole cover, but if it has to be done, hand-wash in cold water and air dry to avoid any shrinkage. Do not tumble dry or bleach. You can also use a mattress protector but that may change the feeling of the bed.

Can I use an electric blanket with the mattress?

You can use an electric blanket or heated cover but we recommend using it at low temperatures as it may damage the mattress at higher temperature settings.

Trial & Warranty

How does the 100-night trial work?

Give yourself a few weeks to get used to the bed. If at anytime during the 100-night period you find the 2920 mattress isn’t right for you just let us know and you will receive a refund of the amount paid. The Trial is only valid in the country purchased (e.g. currently just for US purchases to customers living in the US) and by the original purchaser. Note: if purchased on Amazon, then Amazon’s policies will take precedence.

What happens to the mattress if I want a refund?

By law, a used mattress cannot be resold. Because of this, and because mattresses are bulky items, this causes a significant environmental issue as they take up a lot of space at landfills.

Our goal is to have a local charity receive the mattress so it can be re-used. If that isn’t possible then we will do everything we can to have the bed recycled.

What is the 10-year warranty?

Your new 2920 mattress comes with a 10-year warranty, backed by our 3rd generation, US manufacturer so you can have peace-of-mind that the warranty is backed by a reputable and established business.

The 10 Year Full Replacement Limited Warranty means that for 10 years after you purchase your new mattress, if it has a defect covered under the warranty, the mattress will be replaced or repaired at no cost to you. This warranty is valid only for the original purchaser from the original purchase date of the original mattress purchased and is non-transferable. Any subsequent owner is not covered by the 10-year warranty.

If I purchase through Amazon, what is the trial and return policy?

If you purchase through Amazon, they currently have a 100-day return policy. Please note that for Amazon purchases, all returns and questions should go through Amazon’s support including how to arrange for pickup and refunds.

Ordering, Shipping & Delivery

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free within the continental USA, and is also free to all our friends in Hawaii and Alaska!

When can I expect to receive my mattress?

You should expect to receive the mattress within 5 business days of ordering, often faster. Once you’ve placed your order you will receive a confirmation email, and as soon as it ships you’ll receive tracking information. Unfortunately our friends in Hawaii and Alaska might have to wait a bit longer to receive their order.

Can I schedule a delivery time?

Your mattress will ship via UPS Ground. UPS provides a free service called ‘UPS My Choice’ that allows you to manage delivery dates and receive progress alerts along the way.

Can I ship to my condo or apartment?

If you are receiving the mattress at an apartment complex we strongly suggest alerting the front desk or manager in advance so they are on the look-out for your 2920 box. This will help prevent your order being returned-to-sender. We may also send the order “Signature Required” in some cases.

Can I change my shipping address?

Let us know as soon as possible and we’ll see what we can do. Because your order will often ship out within 24 hours it is unlikely we can change the address but we’ll do whatever we can.

Do I need to sign for the package?

In most cases you don’t need to sign, and the UPS delivery will be left at your door as other UPS packages would be. UPS provides a free service called ‘UPS My Choice’ that allows you to manage delivery dates and other options. In some cases we may ship the order ‘Signature Required’, but you will still be able to manage the delivery using UPS My Choice.

Returning a Mattress?

Please get in touch with us to arrange for the best method of return. Mattresses cannot be resold by retailers and they have a real impact on the environment if not recycled. We will work with you to ensure your mattress is returned to the best location – either recycled or donated to a local charity. Our first choice will always be donations so that someone in need has a chance to use an almost-new mattress.

What happens to the mattress if I want a refund?

By law, a used mattress cannot be resold. Because of this, and because mattresses are bulky items, this causes a significant environmental issue as they take up a lot of space at landfills.

Our first aim is to have a local charity in-need receive the mattress so it can be re-used. If that isn’t possible then we will do everything we can to have the bed recycled.

Once your mattress is donated, send us a scanned or photographed copy of your donation receipt via email and we’ll process your refund.

Payments & Refunds

How can I pay?

Currently we accept:
(i) all major credit or debit cards (including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover),

(iv) Klarna, a financing solution that offers low APR and 0% APR options.

How will my refund be processed?

Once your return has been processed, the refund amount will be issued to the same account that was used for the purchase. This will usually be done within 7 days of the return process being completed – and often sooner.

About Us

Who is 2920 Sleep and why should I purchase from 2920 Sleep?

2920 Sleep is a new company committed to delivering quality sleep products to help you sleep better.

By streamlining the sales process we’re able to avoid the issues customers like least in the industry – negotiating the price of the bed, not knowing whether you got the right price on the right bed, and whether you can have confidence in the warranty.

Our mattress is only called by one name, and is only offered at one price. And because we’ve stripped out the traditional overhead, sales, and marketing costs we’re able to sell a bed that others advertise for over $3,000, at less than half that price.

We’ve also subjected the bed to rigorous independent testing to ensure our product will stand the test of time, which is why we confidently offer a 10-year warranty.

We’ve taken the same approach with our 100% organic sheets and customizable organic latex pillow.
At 2920 we’re committed to bringing you a Better Night’s Sleep. Visit our About Us page for more details.
